I still remember attending my first Trivia night back in 2013. A group of my coworkers were discussing some options for happy hour venues and when we saw that a spot down the street was hosting a Trivia Night, we decided to go for it. I was instantly hooked. When the opportunity arose to join the Last Call team, I was ecstatic. Working with a talented and creative team to spread my love of trivia across the country-what could be better! I currently manage sales and outreach in our west coast areas. Outside of work, I love to travel and am also an avid equestrian and Disney movie lover. All Posts

Podcast Episode 40 Round 1

Round One

Today’s show kicks off with a Science Trivia question that asks the Team to name what type of metal must be present in a specific alloy. On the subject of science factoids, do you know which planet is home to the largest volcano in our solar system?

Next up, we have a Words Trivia question about a verb that takes its name from a 19th-century ostracized land agent in Ireland. Speaking of famous people from Ireland, did you know that St. Patrick actually wasn’t born in the country with which he’s now commonly associated?

The first round wraps up with a Mythology Trivia question about a famous figure from ancient Greece. For more fun facts about ancient mythology, click here to see how the gods and goddesses of love from several different civilizations compare.

Bonus Question

Today’s Bonus Question is a follow-up to the Mythology question from the first round. The Team is asked to guess the height of an ancient statue of the hero mentioned in the answer. Spoiler alert: Here’s a photo of the statue if you find yourself as curious about it as the Team was!

Next, a Lyrics Trivia question challenges the Team to name a 1967 song by its first line. Speaking of lyrics, the 1979 song “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” is now tightly entwined with the cocktail in pop culture. But did you know that the drink almost wasn’t mentioned in the song at all?

Round Two wraps up with a People Trivia question about a role for which Faye Dunaway was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress. P.S. If award season is your favorite season (hello, Moira Rose), make sure to check out the very first episode of the podcast for a theme round all about EGOT winners!

Final Question

We’ve reached the Final Question of today’s game, and the category of choice is Names. But as Shakespeare would have us question, what’s in a name?

The Trivia Team is given a list of four pairs of first names and asked to place them in order based on when they last topped the list of most popular baby names in the U.S. at the same time. They have some interesting methodologies for determining the order, but do you think they’re on the right track? Listen in and see whether you can help steer the Team to victory!
